Pick a room, any room... all are gorgeous!

A while back I posted about how I keep a file on my computer called Decoration Inspiration and shared the images in an album on my Facebook page.  Well, that file is about to get a whole lot bigger - for those who haven't noticed, Lonny magazine has added a gallery of rooms to their website and they are all so pretty and full of touches that I plan to copy (with cheap things from Homegoods and Etsy).

Take a look around - what living room would you like to live in?  Leave a comment and share.  My favorite is this one:

My new couch pillows are actually made from a different colorway of the mod floral print fabric, but more on that later...

There are galleries for rooms throughout the house and I can't wait to go through each image and drool over the gorgeous fabrics and furniture.  Perhaps that can be worked into my weekend?

Things that look expensive, but aren't

It turns out that when you and your husband get sick on your honeymoon and you're in a Seattle hotel room, you have lots of time to play around on your laptop and find stuff to buy online (but you refrain because you're responsible and just threw a wedding).

Here are some of the items I found that will make it look like you spent a lot more than you did.

Gray Bubble Necklace
I have an identical necklace and I wear it all the time.  Strangers come up to compliment me on it and it's identical to one that J.Crew sold for $150.

Elegant Touch Throw Pillows
I hate thinking "oooh that pillow is awesome" and then clicking to see that it's $89.  These pillows look like they're really high end and are about half the price of similar designs on Etsy and in boutique stores.

Sunburst Wall Mirror
As you've probably noticed, sunburst mirrors are having quite a moment this year and most of them cost $149.99.  This one is $33 and offers the same look.

Picasso Drawings Print
I found this framed print at Ikea and thought it would look great in a modern room and it's nicely matted and framed, especially for $39.99
Vera Wang Mock Layer Cardigan
I saw this in person and it looks very well made and would pair nicely with dark jeans and boots or with a pencil skirt for fall.
Target Skylar Jacquard Dress
I think this dress would do the trick if you've got to go to a wedding and need something fancy but won't wear it often after that.  The color is dressy and with the right jewelry and shoes, it could look pretty luxe.

Style from Seattle

Last weekend N and I arrived in Seattle for the last leg of our honeymoon and I was looking forward to doing some shopping since the city is known to have lots of modern, chic boutiques.  We rented a car one day and (eventually, after getting lost) hit up the Ballard neighborhood that the internet promised was full of cool shops.  My sweet husband was very patient and followed me from store to store while I looked for things for our house that would fit in my already 48 lb suitcase.

My favorite store by far was Camelion Design - it's like the owner jumped into my head and found things I needed and then put it all in one big room.  If I had more money and a way to get stuff back to Texas, it would have been crazy.  Here are some photos from Yelp... I didn't take any myself, but they're similar to what was in stock this week.

My favorite purchase was something small that I couldn't wait to get on my dining table (which is ridiculously easy to scratch, don't get me started on that):

These steel gray felt place mats look awesome on my table and were only $6!  The matching coasters were only $2 each.  I haven't been able to find them online, but if you're in Seattle go check out Camelion Design!

I'm back! (and rocking a scarf)

I know you all want wedding recap posts, but I still only have three photos from the event so that will have to wait.  :)

However, after having spent 8 wonderful days among scenery like this...

I am back in Dallas and delighted to discover that fall arrived while I was gone.  I hope it's here to stay, since I observed so many chic British Columbia and Washington ladies wearing scarves with everything and I want to add them to my own outfits. Here are a few of the combinations I saw this week:

Whistler Chic - It's near impossible to be under dressed in Whistler, town of the gap year for young Canadians, Aussies and Kiwis.  I saw lots of scarves being worn with plaid and dark denim.  I'd do it for a weekend day running errands for sure.

Drinks After Work in Vancouver - In Vancouver I saw a really chic lady with a gorgeous jade green scarf over a white button down and pencil skirt.  She has similar coloring to me and it made me want to run out and get the same color since it was perfect with her dark hair and pale skin.

Seattle, Land of Leggings - Every third woman in Seattle was wearing boots, leggings with some sort of short dress or tunic and a cozy top layer.  I quickly followed suit and loved how comfortable it was, but the look will need some tweaking for most offices since it's pretty casual

I'll work on getting some wedding photos to share, but it was a pretty perfect day and so far married life is great!

Online places I love: Well Worn

And now for the last site I think you'll enjoy (once you're done reading this page each weekday, of course) - a blog I love called Well Worn.   Blogstress Nicole is living my dream - she married a Brit and is living stylishly in London.  I love her picks when it comes to clothing and decor and wish she'd post every day so I can have another lunch break treat to look forward to.   However, I think my favorite feature is the Lit to Living posts where Amanda, her guest blogger, takes passages from books that describe indoor spaces (like the Gryffindor common room!) and finds furniture and accessories that would fit in the rooms.

I'll be back to posting in a day or so - I've enjoyed my break and can't wait to tell you all about my wedding and honeymoon!

Online places I love: Dwelling Gawker

Last week I posted about Wedding Gawker, the constant source of inspiration for brides.  I am also addicted to their sister site - Dwelling Gawker.  It's the same format - an ever evolving source of inspiration (leaning towards modern) that I love to look at when I have a few minutes to kill online.  It makes me realize that I need things like union jack throw pillows.

Online places I love: I Do Budget Weddings

As someone who just had a budget wedding, I will say that it was really, really hard to do without everything looking obviously cheap.  Everywhere you look there's something expensive that you could buy and enjoy for four hours and it's hard to find alternate ideas that aren't too homemade looking.  I was really happy to find the blog I Do Budget Weddings and read about the solutions that Hazel found as she planned her wedding in LA.

She made this herself!
