Things Every Girl Needs: A Signature Drink

As I posted on Tuesday, I've decided to make my Things Every Girl Needs series a recurring event featuring a different blogger each Thursday!  First up is Leslie from Fresh Out of Lemons, here to share her take on something we (almost) all need:

Barring any kind of membership in a program that requires a dozen steps, every (21 and older) girl should have a bar drink of choice.  Networking makes the world go round and propels those in the spin forward.  I’ve found that the activity is often done over drinks.  You don’t want to be clueless and fumbly when the bartender asks for your order.

Know your drink and how you like the concoction prepared.  And please avoid anything with too silly of a title.  If you must, feign ignorance by saying “I’m not sure the name, but here’s how you prepare it…”  Delivering this information with confidence will hide the fact that you’ve just asked for a “sex on the beach.”  Order, sip, and razzle-dazzle those around you with your wit and charm!

My drink of choice?  A vodka gimlet, shaken, with little slivers of ice poured in the glass.  Here's how it's made:

Gimlet(makes one drink)
2 ounces vodka (or gin)
2/3 ounces Rose's Sweetened Lime Juice

Pour over ice in a martini shaker.  Shake well.  Pour into a martini glass.  Enjoy!
(Note: A good gimlet should be cloudy, not clear.)

Thanks for the contribution, Leslie!  If anyone else would like to contribute to the series, there are slots open in April.  Just email me and we'll set it up!

  2. That's a good drink choice!

I'm a Gin & Tonic girl myself. Hendrick's Gin if they have it. Bombay Sapphire if Hendrick's isn't available.
